It's ours.
Here in New Zealand we value diversity and fairness. We believe everyone should have access to great quality TV that informs and entertains. This is why we work to champion free TV and its contribution to our communities.
That means providing free-to-air services that are easily accessible to viewers, ensuring local content made for Kiwis by Kiwis can be easily discovered and enjoyed on TV screens across the country.
It's all in one place.
At Freeview, we bring together the best free-to-air channels and make them available on every good TV sold in New Zealand, subscription-free.
We also offer free features that enhance your viewing experience, such as the TV Guide, Parental Controls and Accessibility functions. Freeview is built into TVs, set top boxes and other media devices made by trusted brands, all tested and approved by us so you have the power to choose from a wide range of products to suit how you want to enjoy TV.
It's better together.
We're pretty stoked to provide the leading free-to-air platform for TV and radio in New Zealand. This is made possible through our collaboration with manufacturers, retailers, installers, broadcasters, transmission providers and many other partners throughout the industry.
When all of the channels are brought together in one place, when we all get to watch it together, when we all work together to create it - TV's better together.
Our history.
Freeview started in 2007 with just 4 TV channels beamed out over satellite.
Since then, we’ve supported New Zealand's transition from analogue to digital TV as part of the Digital Switchover (DSO). With the launch of exciting new channels and new ways to watch, we've created a more vibrant free-to-air space for all Kiwis to enjoy.
Through our partnerships with broadcasters and networks, we now offer more than 30 channels showcasing the best of local and international content. The most popular of those can also be enjoyed on our Freeview Streaming TV app, now available on all good Smart TVs.
