Do I need a new TV to get Freeview?

No, you might already have what you need, depending on your TV setup:

If you bought your TV after 2009:

  • Using a UHF aerial: Simply connect your TV to the UHF aerial and tune in to access Freeview channels.
  • Using a satellite dish: Some newer TVs, since 2015, work directly with a satellite dish. Connect the satellite cable to your TV to check if it works. However, you may still need a satellite receiver or recorder if your TV lacks a satellite tuner.

If your TV is from before 2009 and you don't want to upgrade it:

You can get Freeview by adding a set-top box (receiver) or a recorder. These devices convert the TV signal and offer additional benefits. For instance, a new Freeview recorder allows you to record and store a large amount of content for free.
