How do I connect both Freeview and SKY to one dish?
To connect both a Freeview digital satellite receiver and a SKY decoder to one dish you need to use a single power pass splitter and connect the power pass side to the SKY decoder as shown below.

Please note you will need to keep your SKY decoder plugged in for the Freeview digital satellite receiver to work as the SKY decoder will be powering the LNB.
What do I do if my reception is still poor?
Please check that you’ve got your digital receiver connected properly. Sometimes all it takes is a ‘factory reset’ or ‘re-installation’ - press the ‘menu’ button on the digital receiver remote and follow the menu options.
If you are still having a problem we suggest first call the manufacturer for assistance (the phone number should be in the packaging or on the product guide). If this does not solve the problem then call an installer. If they cannot solve the problem then return to the retailer for more assistance.
If you have purchased a non-approved digital receiver we suggest you contact the person you purchased it from for assistance.

I have a 4:3 (square) TV and the graphics or logos are cut off on the side of my screen. How do I fix this?
Most TV content is now broadcast in a widescreen (16:9) format. While newer TV’s are built to display a wide screen picture, many older TV’s (4:3) need to be adjusted.

To ensure you get the full picture on your 4:3 TV you’ll need to adjust the Aspect Ratio on your digital receiver. Please check your user guide for detailed information on how to do this.
The common 4:3 display options are:
Centre Cut or Pan Scan - ensures that the picture fills the screen. You won’t have any black bars around the picture but you will lose the edge of any graphics and miss the outer edges of any widescreen video.
Letter Box - This option will give you the entire picture that is broadcast so you won’t miss anything. You will, however, notice black bars on the top and bottom of the picture - much like most DVD’s. And, when older 4:3(non widescreen) content is broadcast, you’ll notice a black boarder around the whole picture.
I have a non-approved digital receiver and don't have TVNZ6 or any other new channels?
It is most likely that you will need to re-scan for the new channels on your digital receiver. Please check your user guide or contact the person you purchased it from for assistance.
Who do I contact for technical support?

My Receiver says an 'over-the-air software upgrade' is available, what do I do?
From time to time Freeview will broadcast receiver software upgrades on behalf of the manufacturer. If you receiver prompts you to accept a software upgrade please follow the on-screen instructions. An upgrade should take no longer than 30 minutes and probably much less. When complete the receiver should return to the channel you were viewing or go to stand-by. If it does not we suggest you unplug it (remove the power connection), wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. If the upgrade was unsuccessful the receiver will probably try again, follow the instructions. If it fails again we suggest you connect the manufacturer for technical support.

DVD recorder
Because a DVD recorder only has an analogue tuner built in, you need to use it with an external digital receiver (or digital TV) to record digital TV.
To record from your digital receiver or digital TV you’ll need to ensure it is powered on and on the correct channel for the recording to be successful (note: you will not be able view a different channel while the recording is in progress).
We recommend using a My Freeview® digital television recorder. MyFreeview|HD® allows you to pause, record and replay live TV. You can record an entire series at the touch of a button and record two channels at once. You can even record in High Definition.
TVNZ Sport Extra
TVNZ will no longer be transmitting TVNZ Sport Extra on the Freeview satellite® platform. Transmission also ceased on Freeview|HD® on Saturday 1st August, 2009. TVNZ says this decision has been made, with regret, because in the current economic climate the company does not have the resources available to maintain or develop a sports channel.
Freeview is an open access broadcast platform. It is up to individual broadcasters whether they broadcast their channels on Freeview satellite®. and/or Freeview|HD®. Please consult TVNZ if you have any further questions.
How do I watch Prime on Freeview?
Prime is on Freeview Channel 10. If you cannot see Prime in your Freeview EPG:
1. Select the Auto Scan option from your menu for Freeview|HD products or the Factory Default option for Freeview Satellite products.
2. For further help check the relevant user manual for your product
If you do not have a Freeview approved receiver please contact the manufacturer.
Why does the audio on my Sony TV sound lower on TV3 than other channels?
This is because of the Dolby dynamic compression used. To correct this press Home and change your audio settings as follows:
Settings > Digital setup > Dynamic range > Compressed
Why are some of my channels missing?
Digital channels are broadcast in groups. 1 digital channel or frequency holds many individual channels. As of June 2010 on the Freeview|HD®platform there are three digital channels. TVNZ, Mediaworks and Kordia.
TVNZ - TVOne, TV2, TVNZ 6 and TVNZ 7
Mediaworks - TV3, C4, TV3 PLUS 1 and C42
Kordia - Maori Television, Prime, Parliament TV, Chinese TV8, Television 33 and Freeview|HD® Demo channel
Each of the three digital channels have their own frequency and as such if there is a problem with your aerial or cable it’s possible that you may not receive one entire group of channels. As is the nature of digital television you may have perfect picture on the other channels. Please contact an installer in your area if you experience this.
You can find an installer here.
Why does an ® show on the MyFreeview EPG on repeat screenings of the same programme?
As MyFreeview records the series or programme you’ve chosen rather than just setting the time to start recording, an identical repeat is seen as the same content to the device. What this enables your DTR to do is choose an alternate screening to record if it is unable to record the first screening because you are recording other shows at that time.
Why do I sometimes miss the start or end of programmes when recorded on my MyFreeview?
Often broadcast schedules can over or under run by a few minutes. MyFreeview recorders extend the start and end time if possible to overcome this issue. If multiple recordings are scheduled it may not always be possible to extend the time and the recorder may start or finish the recording at the scheduled time.
