Can I use an indoor UHF aerial to receive Freeview?

If you have UHF coverage and live very close to your local transmission site (within 5 – 10km) and have line of sight to the site, then in some cases an indoor Digital UHF aerial will work to pick up TV signal.

Check here to see if you have UHF coverage here.

For best results, go for an internal digital TV UHF antenna (not a UHF/VHF combined antenna), place near a window and in direct line of sight with your nearest transmission tower. If this doesn’t work for you or you experience ongoing reception issues with your indoor antenna, it’s best to opt for a rooftop UHF aerial.
